We are living in strange times. But aren’t all new times strange? Or is our time stranger than all the others? Are we losing our sense of the ridiculous, setting the table for a very serious and civilized tea while the world collapses around us? And what if, while we absurdly go on setting the table for tea, we are invaded by flies? Inopportune flies, grinding down our patience and stretching our limits as they swim in our delicate porcelain cups? Useless flies that always manage to uncover the rubbish swept under the carpet? On stage, a swarm of flies delight in that rubbish and seriously challenge us to discover why we laugh, how we laugh, and what we laugh at, after all—we ridiculous beings sentenced to death. Uma Mosca no Nosso Chá is a very serious performance about humour.
