In November, Filmhuis Den Haag, Melkweg, and Paard present 'Getting the Band Back Together', a collaborative music film program featuring bands of all shapes, sizes, and genres. When fate brings bored music teacher JJ together with friends Naoise and Liam Óg, it turns out to be the start of an unprecedented Irish hip-hop act. Rapping in their native language, the rebellious rap trio Kneecap breaks through in Belfast and quickly becomes the figurehead of a civil rights movement aimed at saving the Irish language. As the debate erupts in the public arena, police and politicians do their utmost to silence the anarchic trio. In this wildly original 'sex, drugs, and hip-hop' biopic, Kneecap play themselves and sound a global rallying cry in defense of their cultural heritage. Melkweg often hosts different types of programs simultaneously, such as concerts, club nights, and films. Please be aware that there may occasionally be sound interference from other programs during the screening.
